Stealing Bitcoin "is nothing illegal, but morally wrong" - WTF?

After I reported this phishing website to the web hosting provider I got this shocking answer:

looks like this is some modified FOSS, which sends some data via Ajax. This is nothing illegal, but morally wrong. So we cannot suspend anything. But the thing seems to be done, as the website is offline for some time already.

It is obvious that the private keys are being stolen.

and it is obvious that it is not illegal (according to German law, which is applicable) to „steal“ some random numbers you have generated before. We can’t do anything, especially without a court order.

Meanwhile, the site does not work for an unknown reason. Perhaps it's a coincidence that a cat has gone through the server's administrator's keyboard? (Update: the website is still working.)
